After making the floral crown for Lyric’s 6 month photoshoot I had some flowers and greenery left over and wanted to incorporate them somehow. It was too cold to take her photos outside by making this mobile and hanging the flowers from it I was able to bring the outdoors in (mind you it was barely spring and there were no flowers in sight) – so essentially I beat the outdoors and added color and texture to an otherwise plain white backdrop. It also worked great as foreground.
- Small hula hoop
- White duct tape
- Transparent jewelry cord
- One eye hook
- Flowers and/or greenery
Start by wrapping the hula hoop in white tape. It sure doesn’t have to be perfect, you won’t even notice in the photos.
Using the jewelry cord, tie three lengths to the hula hoop an even distance apart.
Screw the eye hook centered directly above where you want the mobile to hang. Tie the three cords to the hook and let the mobile hang.
Use more of the jewelry cord to attach the flowers to the hoop by simply tying knots to the stems.
…and that’s it! Super hard, I know 😉
You have to admit this packs a lot of punch for how simple it was to make. You can easily switch up the flowers for anything else that’s better suited to your shoot. Pom poms. Balloons. Anything you can think of!
